This project was supposed to happen right after Greenland, but the Lord
had other plans....there were permits and drawings and approvals and
who knows what else to get before the project could be started!
Thankfully, the project did start at the end of September. It is a small
church with (probably) a big history.....
Here's the cornerstone of the church.....
And here's the front of the church...
The sanctuary and some of the windows....made me wonder about those families....
Were they coal miner's families?(This is coal country) How much did they have
to sacrifice to get their name on a window? Do they have living relatives still in
this town? Were some of them deacons? The Pastor?......
The good news is, the remodeling is being done behind the sanctuary where an
addition was built on in the 1980's, so this will all remain as it is. Full of history.
This project is being done in two phases. Phase one is to bring the kitchen, fellowship
hall and restroom upstairs. Phase two will be to convert the basement into classrooms,
leaving the existing restrooms and nursery there.
I'll post more pictures of the project soon, but if you haven't read the post about
Instagram be sure to check that out! It's easier for me to post on there because I
can do it from my phone. I will try to continue to update this blog though as often as I can!
